About us

The business was a natural development of a diverse interior and product design background and became a real labour of love for owner Michael Cattanach in the year 2000…

Many wonderful and magical journeys through the Middle East, Africa and Asia were our inspiration for interesting design with a global and regional connection. Influenced by what we were seeing and experiencing we set out to design, build and source our first range. In 2001 we set up our distribution centre in Java, opened two retail stores in Hertfordshire and launched our first range of wholesale furniture and home accessories.

It has been crazy ever since but a much changed business to those early days of constant travel and a life split between Asia the Middle East and the UK.  Those days are remembered most fondly, with many a tale to tell!

We still buy from our original suppliers to this day providing us with great pleasure and joy at the many wonderful relationships we have forged based simply on a shared love for great design.

The end of May 2012 brings a strategic shift in the way we are approaching our business. The increasing cost of retail and the need to be ultra-competitive on price has meant after many long debates we will close our last retail store. With our on-line business growing fast, based on our reputation for high quality and unique design, we felt the best way to service our business going forward was by removing most of the cost and continuing to provide incredible designs at an exceptional price point.

We have merged our distribution centres in the UK to one single 14,000 sq. foot warehouse in Cambridge. This provides us with plenty of space to store our ever growing home and garden ranges. We are currently in discussions with local authorities to build a bespoke showroom at our warehouse and hope to have this open by early 2013.
In the meantime we will continue to design wonderful home ware and source high quality furniture from UK, European and global markets. Our style has always been diverse; we don’t like to be restricted to a particular style or trend. What we love is great design, furniture that has life, a look that makes you smile.

We continue to design bars and restaurants and have recently finished designing and furnishing the all new Saloon boutique hotel you can view this project at www.saloonbar.co.uk the eight metre bar we had hand carved from 40cm deep volcanic rock creating a feature bar of all bars. We were commissioned to design the hotel furniture with each room being different to the next. We were really proud of the outcome and hope if you are in Hertford you can see our designs first hand…
Having now delivered to over 50,000 homes we believe our honest and transparent approach has served us well and helped us build lasting relationships with our customers.
